After years of rotating through nearly every notable e-ink device — from the Remarkable 2 and Kindle Scribe to the Supernote Manta and multiple Boox products — I approached the Viwoods AiPaper with cautious optimism. As a relative newcomer in this space, I wasn’t sure if it could deliver the same level of refinement and fit/finish as the more established players.
Spoiler: It absolutely does — and then some.
From the moment I started using it, AiPaper struck the perfect balance between the distraction-free writing experience I loved on the Remarkable and the versatility of an Android-based device like Boox. It’s the best of both worlds: a device focused on handwriting and note-taking that still allows me to download apps from the Play Store when needed, without turning into an overwhelming, notification-heavy tablet.
But the real game-changer here? AI integration. Viwoods has nailed something no other e-ink device has done this seamlessly. The AI is not a gimmick — it feels baked into the core experience. Whether I’m drafting notes, brainstorming, or organizing thoughts, the AI tools are instantly accessible and incredibly intuitive. It’s like having an assistant right on the page, without breaking the flow of handwriting.
I joined the AiPaper ecosystem at version 3.7, and it shows just how much polish they’ve added to the experience. Every feature feels intentional. Performance is smooth, handwriting latency is minimal, and the interface doesn’t feel cluttered. The overall experience is so refined that all my other e-ink devices have been relegated to the drawer.
If you’ve been on the fence about the Viwoods AiPaper, especially if you’ve been burned by half-baked Android implementations on other e-ink devices, this one is worth every penny. For me, it’s the first device that truly marries writing focus + intelligent digital tools without compromise.
