My Review of the ViwoodsI have been using this device for around a month now. There are definitely some weaknesses but
the positives overwhelm my concerns. With ongoing development I’m confident some of these
things will be amended in time.
Cons
1.My use case for this device was to read books in foreign languages. I thought the AI feature would
aid in this task. However, because the model the device uses is GPT3, it seems like a page easily hits
the token limit and it only provides a translated summary of the page— not a word for word
translation. This can be fixed with allowing users to plug in their own OpenAI account or
alternatively upgrading the model used.
2.Accidental home button keypresses were fairly common when I first got the device but it’s
improving. Now, it’s one press every hour long writing session. This can hopefully be fixed with
software updates.
3.Lack of infinite scrolling pages
4.Pen doesn’t feel premium enough as it rattles when using the tablets
Writing tools not standardized across device. My tool of choice is the fineliner but it’s inaccessible
in the Learning section (where pdfs and epubs are)
Pros
Hardware is robust and software is snappy.
The AI feature is helpful to have a shortcut to immediately ask
about a technical concept.
Google Play addition was spectacular as now I can use apps
that were part of my workflow on my previous workhorse
tablet.
Charges fairly fast, slow battery drain when idle, and I haven’t
seen evidence of the device heating up like in some YT reviews.
Magnets on pen and device are strong. I saw complaints of the
magnets being weak but I have vigorously shaken the device w
pen and it takes quite a bit of effort to knock off the pen.
I haven’t really used any other notetaking device before so I
can’t really draw comparisons. This device statisfies my
expectations and if the development continues to be active, I
have a devices that I will use for years.Charming_Net_5002

Viwoods AI as a small pcIt's a new device, and I wasn't sure about it, but I took the leap, and bought it to use as my new e-
ink mini PC. Here’s my take on it after using it for a few weeks.
I have previously used several e-ink devices like the Hisense A5, A9, and the Lenovo Yoga Book
C390. This is my first note-taking device, but i was specifically looking for something i could use as
an e-ink pc. I was also thinking about getting a boox device, but i just couldn't figure out which...
Maybe I should've asked here :D
--
I ordered the Viwoods at 530 euro, with a Black Friday 50 euro discount, and I payed 56 euro in
import taxes in Belgium. It arrived in a week through fedex. The Viwoods AI has a contemporary
design and feels sturdy yet lightweight. It really feels like a quality piece of hardware, and it gets me
excited to use it. The e-ink display is easy on the eyes, the screen has no backlight and is very near
the surface, which i prefer to the Hisense devices. I went for a device without backlight on purpose,
for this reason. The pen, as well is decent. I can only compare it to the Lenovo pen, but the
interaction of the pen and tablet is very paperlike, and it's easy to hold and use the side button to
erase (I prefer this to using the top, because my Lenovo worked the same way)
The system software it comes with is well thought out, i think, but it doesn't fit my needs. I don't
use the Viwoods with its regular launcher, but have installed Olauncher, which is great, and
increases it's functionalities as a regular Android tablet. I set it up so a swipe to the left gets me in
my book (through Moonreader +) and a swipe to the right takes me to viwoods own meetings app,
which i use to take notes. Other apps I regularly use are googles suite of office apps, gmail, pocket
and firefox browser. All work well, but are not particularly fast.
Viwoods at the moment does not offer a native way of going from portrait to landscape mode, but
some apps, like moonreader, have ways of rotating the screen and android just follows the last used
app. So if i put my ebooks in portrait, the all other apps will be in portrait mode too. It's a
workaround, but it works for me! This combined with a nice bluetooth keyboard and a small Ikea
wooden phone stand make it into a nice little pc.
While the refresh rate of the Viwoods AI isn't as impressive as that of the Hisense devices, it hasn't
been a significant drawback for my usage. The slower refresh rate is noticeable on some websites
and apps, and when using a mouse, but for my primary tasks, reading, writing and sending emails, it
performs quite well.
All in all, it suits me very well. I've had to use only a few workarounds for it to do what I want from
it, and the system never protests. They obviously put a lot of attention and work into their own
system and apps, but don't force them on you, which i like.
I have never used any of the AI features, those were not the reason I wanted this device :)
If anybody has any questions for me, feel free to ask!!bewaterlife
An honest initial review of the Viwoods AI Paper including
vs. (RM2/RMPP)First off, in the interest of full disclosure, I am going to put a submission into lucky draw; however I
don't think I am motivated by that to modify my opinions. I would like to give back value to the
wider Reddit e-ink community that has given me much value. See also:

TDLR: the Viwoods AI Paper is not without its flaw, but it satisfy my need enough that I have
decided to return the RMPP and keep the AI paper for further evaluation (against the A5X2,
whenever that is delivered to me).
Preamble: A bit about me and my use case: for e-ink tablets, truly there's no one-size-fit-all I -- the
"best" device is the one that fits the user's use case and preference the best; I'd like to rM to marry
Viwoods and Boox and Ratta and make a super baby -- combining all the best hardware and
software features --- sadly that doesn't exist -- anyway I digressed.
I use my e-ink as a complementary device to my other devices -- I have an Android foldable phone
with a pen, an Android 11.8 inch tablet and a Windows laptop; so where does an e-ink fit in within
my needs? Technically I don't need one (this is key) -- in general I would not advice most people to
skip the phone and iPad for any e-ink device. However I have relatively financial means and
productivity justification that spending $300 to $800 more to make my work and personal life even
just say 5% more organized, efficient and pleasurable is already enough value (by the way this
makes me fairly price agnostic). I am looking for a good-looking (good for client/investor meetings)
and functional pen-based device that let me replace my physical planner/notebooks/journals. 90%
of my use case is reading and writing text. Color is a nice-to-have but not essential. I need this
device to keep me from watching YouTube and doom-scrolling IG on my phone and tablet.

One week with the AI PaperI've had the AI Paper for almost a week now, and I'm really blown away by this device. I can't believe
that this is the first device produced by a company that we have never heard of. Anyway, why did I
buy this exact e-ink tablet? My work has grown more demanding, needing me to process more and
more data to such an extent that I cannot remember everything. For me, it was time to buy a device
to note down all of my meeting notes, thoughts, and questions. Plus, I really hate the small size of
my Kindle. I started doing my research. The Boox Go was an option, and the Remarkable 2 was an
option. The Remarkable 2 was just too limited. How can you not even have a calendar app? The
Boox Go seemed like the way to go. Then came the YouTube reviews where I came across a great
Carta 1300 comparison (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LJdQukWtjYk). The fact that the
Carta 1300 has a 37% faster refresh rate in comparison to the Carta 1200 convinced me to get a
Carta 1300 tablet, since the worst part about e-ink is the screen refresh rate. The options were
limited: iReader X3, vi woods AI Paper, the upcoming A5X2, and the upcoming Boox Note Max. The
iReader is really intended for the Chinese market only, the A5X2 would be released whenever, and
the Boox Note Max was too big, plus it has a glass screen that can easily break. So I decided to go in
the direction of the AI Paper.
From the time that I ordered my AI Paper to the time that I received it in Poland, it took 11 days.
The first thing that you notice when you open the box is how thin the device is. Build quality is solid
and clean. The Carta 1300 screen is crisp - 300 dpi is perfect. Carta 1300 does give you more
contrast, but it’s not as noticeable as the fast refresh rate. What is weird is that the ultra-fast
refresh mode doesn’t give you any perceivable image degradation or more ghosting (actually less).
The case is vinyl with a suede inlay - really nice actually. It keeps the overall form factor slim. My
device came with version 3.1.7 and I had to update it to 3.2.2, which only took about 10 minutes at
the most. Now here’s the first minus. I had to activate the Google Play Store myself. For me this is
not a big deal, but for some people this could cause them to either return it or never use the Google
Play Store. The pen is responsive with no perceivable latency. I have no idea why some of the other
reviewers complain about this pen. Really, the hardware is perfect. The software is where we have
some problems.

Review Viwoods Aipaper after couple of daysFirst of all:
- I participate in the Christmas give-away action :)
- I am a actually a rM2 user and use it for dailly note taking, planning and reading. From the
moment I saw the Viwoods Aipaper I was intrigued by it and wanted to test if this could be replace
my rM2 (which I very much like and use dailly, but has some limits).
Here we go:
Ordering and shipment: Ordering went very smooth. Everything was crystal clear. Shipment was
very fast. I live in Belgium and ordered it on Sunday, shipping started Monday and on Friday it was
already in the local Fedex center. Delvery was sheduled for the next Monday. I was eager to pick it
up at Fedex, but it was not possible due to policy... :(. I needed to wait for the delivery the next
Monday. So on Monday it was delivered. Nicely and securely packed.
First Impressions: wow! it looked fantastic. Very nice build quality (no dead pixels ;)), very user
friendly UI and intuitive. The side bar looks pretty much the same as rM, so no learning curve for
me. I like the difference between Paper and Meetings. The Dailly app is very usefull (one thing I miss
at rM2 since I use it for dailly planning). You can also link Meeting notes to dailly so can you always
"time stamp" your meeting notes. General settings are very clear and usefull. Not to much tweaking,
just enough. Picking is a rather new concept for me and took me more time to play with it, but when
you discover it, it's just a nice add-on. And off course the pre installed apps and Google Play Store
are awesome and work fine! Although, 3rd party apps are not always that smooth, but that's for all
e-ink devices and not the primary use of this tablet. The haptic buttons are also a good addition for
efficient workflow. I haven't used the AI function much for the moment. But that's something I will
explore the next weeks.

1 day Viwoods Aipaper ReviewFirst of all:
- I participate in the Christmas give-away action 😊
- I’m Located in France
- This my first eink device
Ordering and shipment:
The order process went very smoothly on their site using the Shop Pay interfaces. The shipment was
quick; they ship on Monday. In my case, I placed the order on a Thursday. After shipping, the
package took 4 days to arrive at the FedEx depot. The package was carefully packed.
My first impressions:
First of all, it was the thinness of the product that surprised and pleasantly impressed me. This is
my first contact with an e-ink device; when I turned it on, I was amazed by the quality of the display,
which is so close to high-quality printing. I am very happy with the format I chose. With its slim
design and light weight, I can really take it anywhere. The interface style is very clean and tasteful;
you don't feel lost among the options it offers. It is very well thought out, and I get the impression
they have taken the best elements from other competitors' interfaces (RM, Supernote). Although this
overlay is much newer, I imagine it lacks some features compared to its rivals. Note that I haven't
encountered any bugs or crashes yet.
The writing sensation is very good, although I have no point of comparison. It is enjoyable to write,
and the experience is close to writing on a piece of paper. Regarding PDF and Epub reading via the
Learning section, the quality is impeccable. It looks great, and the contrasts are striking. Scanned
PDFs of poor quality display much better on this screen compared to a standard screen. Working on
revision sheets for my 10-year-old daughter directly with the pen on PDF files is fantastic. If the
typography is too small, you can zoom in to have more space to write. I do have some organizational
criticisms of the app, but I will come back to that in the points for improvement.

Pleasantly SurprisedI have to be honest, I was a bit skeptical when the Viwoods device was on the way to my house. But
really, this thing can draw! The feel of the pen to screen is really great. I mean, look at what I’ve been
able to create. This device has been a wonderful addition to the tools I use as an illustrator.
If you are questioning whether to buy one or not, trust me, it is a great purchase. Again, I didn’t
think this would be a daily use device for me. And now it has become a great tool to incorporate to
my process. If you like to draw, or have ANY questions about my process for these, please feel free to
send me a message here or find me on instagram bhansendesign. That is where I share a lot of my
illustration work.
So if you are on the fence, I’d say it’s worth every penny and I also have a Remarkable (more
expensive) and this thing competes and I think beats that device (at least the RM2, I haven’t tried
the color/pro).

My AI Paper review after 1 monthLearn More
Hello,
After owning a Boox Note Air 2 and a note air 3C during more than 2 years, I was looking for a new
device with a brighter white screen. I ordered the remarkable 2 (thinking it was better than version
1) but I sent it back right away: writing experience was not the one I was looking for, screen was too
dark and system was not open to comics apps readings (.cbr files).
Then I heard about the AI paper, spent several days watching videos of beta testers on YouTube and
decided to order it. And it was delivered only a few days after !!! Unboxing was a nice experience too.
I have been using this device for more than a month now and I'm fully happy with it !!!. Still some
weaknesses that can be tackled by future software updates in a close future.
Here are my usages, Pros and Cons:
Main usages: Reading comics, books and newspapers Notes taking, meeting notes taking and
meeting wrapup. Few mails.
